The Land

Let's look around outside! If you saw the opening page you know what the front of the property looks like. In order to avoid boring repetition I won't post that photo again here.

Let's go around back!

Here we are out in the pasture looking back toward the house and barn. By the way, this pasture is only partially fenced. When we moved in, the pasture had a wire fence that was in very poor condition and really was an eyesore. We tore out the section adjoining the yard and replaced it with handsome board fencing. After getting rid of our horse last summer we decided to tear out the remainder of the old wire fencing. But we didn't replace this section with new fencing. The point I'm trying to make is that only one side of the pasture is fenced. In order to keep animals contained, fencing would have to be installed around most of this pasture area.

Here's a closer view of the barn. You can see the apartment deck off the back; below this deck are the exterior doors to the horse stalls:

Let's walk over to the rear of the house:

See that pine tree on the left side of the photo? Just on the other side of that tree is Retriever Lane. That red door you see on the bottom left of the house goes into the basement and the french doors lead into the living room. There is a small landing just outside the french doors; on the left side of this landing is a stairway going down to the brick patio.
Speaking of the patio, let's get a closer look at it:

We're facing the rear of the house right now and if we look off to our right you'll see the large side yard. I used to have our garden here but we planted it over with grass when we decided to move:

Here's a view of the barn from where we're standing. That piddly little tree you see is a Red Oak we planted a couple years ago. Also, there is a gate in that gap you see between the barn and fence. We just forgot to shut it before snapping this photo so it doesn't show up at all. The large front doors on the barn open up to the workshop area--plenty of space to pull in your vehicle to work on it if you're into that. The smaller doors on the lower right of the barn open up to the animal section of the barn. There is a concrete pad just outside this door.

The Second Lot

Ready to see the creek? We could walk down by turning around and heading down the hill, away from the rear of the house. But I feel like driving today so we'll get in the 4x4 (not that it is needed), turn left out of the driveway onto Retriever Lane and take the first dirt road to the left:

Believe it or not, this acreage used to be covered in brush. We've done extensive clearing in the past year or two. The 9 acres is split into two lots: 3.4 acres and 5.2 acres. What we're looking at now is the 5-acre lot. This lot can be further subdivided. A few years ago the county ran a main public sewer line across this property, along the creek. So public sewer is easily accessible! Let's continue on down towards the Opequon Creek:

Here we are!

More of the creek:

The property follows the Opequon for about 600 feet:

You can see we've cleared brush and planted grass here:

Most of the land is open with just larger trees but it is wooded around the edges for privacy. This photo shows where we cleared a path along the back edge of the property:

That's all folks!
